How do you guys balance max strength and endurance?
Quote from Adam on March 5, 2025, 11:05 pmHave you ever hit a point where your strength in the gym feels great, but your endurance is completely shot? I’ve been training for a competition, focusing heavy on low-rep, high-weight sets, and I feel strong as hell. But the second I try to push through longer sets or higher reps, I gas out way too fast. Even cardio feels like I’m dragging. How do you guys balance max strength and endurance without feeling like one is always suffering?

Quote from Will on March 6, 2025, 5:57 pmBeen there, man. Heavy lifting takes a toll on endurance, especially if you're not working in some higher-rep work or conditioning. Try adding in some finishers—sled pushes, battle ropes, or even drop sets—at the end of your workouts to build stamina without sacrificing strength.

Quote from Ben on March 6, 2025, 7:53 pmStrength and endurance are always gonna compete for recovery, so it’s about smart programming. Maybe dedicate one session a week to metabolic work—things like circuits, timed sets, or even strongman-style training. You won’t lose strength, but your endurance will come up fast.

Quote from dustin on March 9, 2025, 4:43 pmCould also be a nutrition thing. If you're running on low carbs or not timing your meals right, your body might not have the fuel to sustain longer efforts. Try increasing your intra-workout carbs and see if that helps with energy levels.
